It is Not Worth Giving Up Your Life Over A Loss

Trust me. I have been there just a few years back.

Dear friend,

I hesitated before deciding to write this article. Although I have long healed, writing this out to the public made me felt exposed and vulnerable.

However, I hope to use my story to help you if you are undergoing an extremely difficult time right now.

And if you are reading this, please give me a few minutes to explain why it not worth it to give up your life over a loss.

A few years back, I was forced to end a relationship because my then partner’s family couldn’t accept it. They made crude remarks about me and our relationship. My then-partner was left with no choice.

I was devastated of course. To me, it felt like the world was crashing on me. Firstly, I was all along deemed as a pleasant and a people-pleaser kind of person. I was being heavily penalized and rejected for being…me. Secondly, it was a relationship that I really want to hold on to, dearly.

To me, it is all about the mindset. Life’s always full of ups and downs. If you are going through downtime now, it will become better one day! And what’s there to feel suicidal? There is always someone who still loves you very much. It can be your family or your best friend, even if your partner left you. It is foolish, I thought so.

Crying and feeling down was nothing. It was the constant bleak outlook in life, self-doubt, loss in confidence due to the rejection and the loss of someone I loved so much. I had panic attacks because of little triggers in the public. My head and fingers would grow numb. Breathlessness and dizziness would strike me…
