Why Universal Basic Income in India Sucks!!

NYAY the best way to do UNYAY for the Fledgeling Middle Class and Honest Income Tax Payers

Many of my classmates have left India to other countries such as Canada or Australia or the U.S. However, few like me cannot leave the country for the love of the land, the food and the freedom. But if the political parties have their way, I think leaving the country will become the best option for people like me who would look for other countries only for the better income.

Lot has been said and written about the NYAY scheme, which is being taunted as the brainchild of a politician Rahul Gandhi, whose only claim to the Prime Ministership is nothing but being a scion of the (I don’t know why they’re called the Gandhis) first family. Clearly, the brains were not actually used or the brain used seems to be definitely the brain of someone who does neither pay taxes nor has to fend for living every day.

There are some facts that I would bring to your notice:-

Taxes are bad for the economy. Taxes leave less amount for the salaried individuals, leave less amount for companies to expand their capital. Some might argue, but the taxes are actually running the nation.

Yes. Makes sense.

Taxes should actually be utilized in a manner that helps the government to unblock people who actually work. Work creates productivity. Employment is the cornerstone of any person’s utility to the nation.

Prime Minister Modi was pivotal in starting a few programmes that were actually keeping our taxes to optimum use

The only big issue I would’ve remonstrated with how my tax was being used as the priority being provided to primary education. Modi’s government tried their bit by providing an increased stipend to research scholars to retain research in India, however, Primary education still is a sore point which if tackled properly would’ve given better credibility to the efforts in education.

So far so good.

Then came the promise of what Modi had told the people of India. 4 years of governance and the final year of politics. Modi introduced a direct cash benefit transfer of 6000rs per year for farmers.

Now, agrarian distress is not new in our country. Many farmers due to poor input subsidies or crop failure or lack of Minimum selling price for their produce had resorted to the pesticide. Hence, even if the idea was painful for many, keeping in mind that the farmer income is not taxed at any juncture, we let it slide.

The opposition couldn’t digest the fact that Modi could come out with such a measure that could potentially be a game changer to the country. Hence, a product of the gas that comes out of indigestion meant that Rahul Gandhi would get the brainwave of Universal Basic Income.

UBI is impractical in India.

I want to live in my country. I want to pay taxes honestly and would love to contribute to its growth. But in no way can I stand aside and see the wealth of my nation gifted to people and allow it to be utilized in any manner they seem fit. Congress always loves their constituencies to stay poor like Amethi so that in the end when elections are up, they can just go pay and get the votes. Survival of Congress depends on India being a poor nation. Congress should actually remember why its numbers reduced all over the country.

ANYAY will wipe out Congress as those who actually didn’t vote previously in elections will definitely come out and destroy the ballot boxes with their disapproval of any person who belongs to the thugs Inc that Congress is.

No Freebies Congress. India has grown beyond the days when you could win by giving alms. India wants Development, Progress and Fewer Taxes so that more Money is there with us and we can spend it to drive the Country forward!!
