10 Things I Have to Live Without But Really Wish I Still Had

When you miss the boat on a trend, it’s never too late to build your own boat and paddle like mad to catch up

As has so often been the case in my life I noted the trend in real time but didn’t try to jump on the bandwagon until everyone else had long since passed on to new prompts.

Writing a 10 favorites things post now would be like all those times in my childhood when I begged my mom for whatever the trendy item of the day was only to have her proudly present it to me when she found it on deep clearance long after everyone else had already abandoned said item and moved on to some new must-have.

The great thing about aging, however, is perspective to say screw it. If I want to write it now, I’ll write it now. So I started to think about my ten things.

Obviously, my cast iron skillet was on the list. That thing is the bomb. I’ve only had it for about seven years and I mourn the many wasted decades of my life I somehow stumbled through cooking without it.

So I had item number one all figured out but then I got stuck on items 2–10. I’ve got plenty of things I love but none seemed to rise to the appropriate level of passion. Instead, I found myself thinking of the many things I no longer have that I wish I still did.

So forget ten things you love or even ten things you hate, I’m going with ten things I wish I still had.

My spouse bought me this car for my 50th birthday. We had put solar panels on the house and we weren’t using all the electricity they produced. Obviously, the only logical choice was to buy an electric car right?
