Every Act of Kindness is Charity

At some point in life, we feel deserted because we’re living just for ourselves. To eradicate the feeling of emptiness we try to connect with our surroundings by helping others.

This week at Amal we have been assigned a DIY project to do five random acts of Kindness. And we have to share them here on medium. Writing on this topic proved hard for me, so I decided only to share the experience I had undergone while doing those five random acts of kindness. Let’s start with a small story.

The sun was blazing though we were covered with warm clothes. The road next to us was busy as usual, different noises were echoing. We were there standing in the second line, waiting to buy the crispiest samosas that everyone, including us, loved.

Suddenly, a man with long hair, who appeared to be homeless, approached and asked for money. The old man has all the characteristics of a local drug addict who spends their life under the metro bridge near the hustle and bustle of the road. Everyone there refused to give money to the man.

My friend and I watched the scene unfold and felt sorry for the man (I think everyone there felt the same for him). Without thinking twice, my friend decided to give him some money from her pocket.

For a split second, I was taken aback by my friend’s actions, and without thinking, the words slipped out of my mouth, “Why are you giving money to the Charsi? Are your parents working hard to spend your money on Charsi?”

My friend turned to me with a look of surprise and then understanding. “Listen,” she said, “I know my parents work hard to provide for me, and I’m grateful for everything they do. But that doesn’t mean we can’t spare a little kindness for someone else who’s struggling. This man might be a Charsi, but he’s still a human being in need, and it’s not our place to judge him. Who knows what he needs the money for? Maybe it’s food, maybe it’s medicine, maybe it’s something else. But if we have a little extra to spare, why not help him out?”

As she spoke, I felt a pang of guilt in my chest. I realized that my initial reaction had been judgmental and unkind. Who was I to decide who was worthy of help and who wasn’t? My friend was right — we were lucky to have what we had, and if we could spare a little to make someone else’s life a little easier, why not?

At that moment, I realized that it didn’t matter whether the man was a Charsi or not — what mattered was that we had shown him kindness when he needed it most. I knew that my friend had taught me an important lesson that day — that no matter who someone is or what their circumstances might be, a little kindness can go a long way.

Now, here I'm trying to put the feeling while doing a small juster of kindness:

Uh, Well, it’s a feeling in your heart that you can’t deny, when you do an act of kindness it’s a feeling that will never die. It’s like a ray of hope that will never fade, it’s an example of how love can be shared.

I felt my purpose when I did that little act of kindness. To help out someone else and make their life a bit more packed. I felt the vibes that surround me when I’m there, It’s like I’m alive and I’m part of what’s in the air. (Connecting with nature bring wholeness, which helps us to live in the present moment)

When you do some random act just for the sake to help others, the spark in their eyes will make the world a little brighter. A small act of kindness can mean so much more, the joy it brings to another is an incredible reward.

I want to wrap up my blog here by saying that, some of the most powerful acts of kindness are often the simplest. A smile, a kind word, a listening ear — these are all gifts we can give to others daily. And while they may seem small, they can have a huge impact on someone’s life.

P.S. Don’t forget to be kind to yourself.
