Six games to enjoy PS VR2

PlayStation VR2

Told like a fairy tale, Moss is so adorable that one can’t help but smile throughout the game. In this game, you control a brave little mouse named Quill from above like a puppeteer. Quill walks through her world, riding squirrels over human ruins, jumping from rock to vine, and defending herself with her tiny sword against her enemies, big carapace beetles, or prickly plants. Each level is a puzzle where the player must not only make the mouse jump but also control elements of the scenery, like pulling a stone block or pushing a wooden door with their hand. The graphics are beautiful and the controls are intuitive enough.

Here, we have a very unique experience with a “rhythm violence” game. In the body of a beetle, you slide on a track like in a bobsleigh in a virtual decor of lines and flashes. To the beat of a haunting music that dictates the right moments to act, you must intercept obstacles, stick to curves to turn properly, and undo psychedelic triangles that await you at the end of the course. Explosions of light, percussion beats, and speed are on the menu. It may not be the most sophisticated game, but it is well-designed and totally immersive.

The graphics may not be the most polished, but Song in the Smoke contains some great little finds. Here, we are in first-person, embodying a caveman or cavewoman who explores their environment and collects fruits and various objects to start a fire, create a knife, assemble a torch, and defend themselves against enemies. It’s wildly fun to bang two stones against each other to start a fire, rub a bone to make it into a punch, and carve stones into arrowheads.

This is one of the most ingenious virtual reality applications we’ve ever had the chance to try. You officiate above a game board, like a master in Dungeons and Dragons. With your virtual hands, you control your champion, make them move from one square to another, open treasure chests and attack the monsters and horrible hairy creatures that surround you. Advances on the squares and small animations follow one another. The table can be turned, you can zoom in to better see the action and all the action cards for spectacular blows or healing are at your fingertips. The choice of moves is made by a virtual dice roll that you perform. Fans of fantastic tabletop games will love it.

Rez Infinite is a fully-realized science-fiction fantasy. In a vectorized setting, the player must delve deeper and deeper into the circuits of an artificial intelligence named Eden, which can no longer manage its overwhelming amount of information. You float through corridors, shooting at approaching ships or missiles that attempt to eliminate you. Everything is synchronized to techno music that follows the rhythm of your shots. Though it may seem simple, the game becomes increasingly demanding as you progress through more secure zones. Originally released in 2017 for Oculus and HTC Vive, Rez Infinite received a facelift for PS VR2.

This zombie survival game is so delirious and enjoyable that it’s not scary at all. Equipped with pistols, revolvers, and all kinds of rifles, you are attacked from all sides by zombies who want to gnaw on your brain or throw body parts at you. The big challenge is to have enough ammunition, which you must reload by pressing a trigger and then bringing the weapon to your chest. The Sense controller trigger is used and stiffens like a real weapon. It’s difficult to get nauseous: you move in a single jump to a blue circle that indicates the next position.
